EasyStreet Prompts: Prompt #694: skin deep and skin tight

Skin Deep and Skin Tight

Ah, such simpler times. Our great-grandmothers thought these bathing suits were made of "hussy" material. If only they could see what they look like now. It brings up the thoughts of olden days versus today and how the times have changed in so many ways. I, for one, would love to go back to those days long ago when things were so simple and the world wasn't wacky, when people sincerely cared about their neighbors and would reach out a helping hand any time of the day or night; when children could play outside after it got dark and their parents didn't have to worry about them being abducted by some lunatic; when Mom was home making dinner when we got home from school; when Sundays were "family" days and all businesses were closed. Those were the good ole days.

A Day in the Life

Prompt #693: random words and phrases

filigree . breakfast . sidesaddle temptress .

bandit . backhanded biopsy . vicarious .

rhythmic charisma . semifinal . refurb .

coordinates . scented . generic choreography

During breakfast, Martin sat looking out his window at the world outside. He noticed a beautiful woman riding by on a horse and thought to himself, "Ah, what a sidesaddle temptress she is". He knew that if he spoke these thoughts out loud, it would be quite vicarious as his wife was a very jealous woman and would not understand that his thoughts did not match his actions, meaning that he would never act on his thoughts.
He had an appointment today to have a biopsy done of a lump his doctor had found on the back of his hand. It was what he jokingly referred to as a "backhanded biopsy" out of his nervousness.
Bandit, the dog, came into the kitchen just then, wanting to go outside. Martin stood up to let him out, catching a whiff of the scented lilacs wafting through the open window. It was times like these that made a person notice and appreciate everything around them, even the small, insignificant things.
After letting Bandit out, he walked into the living room where the TV had been left on. Before he turned it off, he caught a glimpse of a dancing show and marveled at how the generic choreography made the dancers shine with their rhythmic charisma and charm. Their outfits were coordinates with one another and the two danced as one. This was his wife's "cup of tea" and not necessarily something he watched on a regular basis. He reached down to turn the TV off but not before he heard that it was the semifinal so he changed his mind and sat down to watch.
That's where his wife found him a half hour later, head back and snoring. She smiled when she saw what was on the television and decided to let him sleep for awhile before she would have to wake him for his doctor's appointment.

Fresh donuts

They were used to getting up early, while the rest of the world still slept. It was their job to get the donuts done for the people rushing to their places of employment. They had been doing it for so long that they were used to it and didn't really know any other way. Their day started when most others were hitting their snooze alarms for the fifth time.

Messages

Is it our innermost thoughts spelled out on a board or is it really revealing our future? Is it just guided by our hands or does it have a mind of its own? Does it go where we want it to go, spelling out what WE want to happen or is it guided by some paranormal spirit? These are questions we ask as wondrous children when we play the game with only a candle burning for light and an eerie feeling in the air.

Man At Work

As he was working, his thoughts were filled with the reasons why he was there; his family. He had a loving wife and infant son at home who were depending on his paycheck to keep a roof over their heads and food in their refrigerator and cabinets. He worked as the minutes and hours ticked away, bringing him closer to the end of the day when he could leave and go home to the reason for him being there.

Having an off day

They had gotten a flat tire, the perfect rotten ending to a perfect rotten day. And just to add to their misery, there was no spare. They had been on their way to the local county fair and the looks on the faces of the young people told the story; there would be no fair for them today. And it welcomed the sympathy of the other youngsters who had seen what happened.
